Coronavirus Update

As you know, there have been confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Japan. The number of confirmed cases in Japan has been small but steadily increasing. We have been closely monitoring the Japanese government's recommendations and policies in regards to preventing the spread of the infection.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Tokyo Metropolitan Governor Yuriko Koike held an emergency press conference on Wednesday at which she requested all residents to refrain from going out over the weekend unless for necessities or emergency situations.

To comply with this request, we will be closed this Saturday, March 28th.

In place of classes at the gym, we will provide a workout you can do at home through WodUp.

We will continue to monitor the government's policy with regard to business closures and inform you if any more cancellations will occur.

We encourage you to continue monitoring your own risk for infection and make decisions for going out based on your personal values and needs.  Please refer to the Ministry of Health website for everyday preventive actions.

At Chikara CrossFit the health and safety of our members and coaches are always our top priority.  In the past three weeks, we have increased the cleaning and sanitization of the gym and common areas between classes.

Here are some things that we also ask you to continue doing at the gym while we are open to help us keep the space as safe as possible:

  • Wash your hands regularly before and after class using soap & water and the hand sanitizer we have available at the gym.
  • Wipe all equipment you used in workouts with the alcohol solution in spray bottles.
  • After class, mop the floor area you used during class with the diluted bleach solution in the bucket.
  • If you have a cough, fever, or are not feeling well, do not come to the gym.

We are grateful for your shared efforts to help keep our community healthy.

There are no plans to close the gym indefinitely at this time, but if things continue to get worse in the future and the government mandates non-essential businesses to close, then we will comply and inform you as soon as possible.

It’s always been our mission at Chikara to educate and empower you to live the life you want.  We do this through coaching and community. If we do have to close our doors, we intend on continuing to provide you with coaching and community online.

All the best,

The Chikara Team
